Police pulled over the car around 9:15 p.m. on Friday, March 24, near the intersection of Sumner Avenue and Greenleaf Street, Springfield police said. There were four people inside.
After officers realized the driver, Chadwayne Allen, didn't have a license, they asked everyone to get out, police said. One of the passengers in the backseat was wearing a fanny pack, but when he stepped out of the car, he'd taken it off and left it in the car.
Officers looked inside and found a loaded, illegal pistol, 21 rounds of hollow point bullets, six bags of cocaine, seven bags of crack, and $250 in cash, police said.
Chris Gonzalez, 22, the owner of the fanny pack, was charged with —
- Carrying a loaded large-capacity firearm on a public way
- Carrying a firearm without a license
- Possession of ammunition without an FID card
- Possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony
- Possession with the Intent to distribute a Class B drug (Two Counts)
The driver, 24-year-old Allen, was cited for driving without a license and arrested, police said.
